Yvonne W. James

JAMES ~ Yvonne West James (78), was born in Jacksonville, Florida November 21, 1941 to Charlie L.  and Minnie L. West, who preceded her in death.

Yvonne went home to be with her Lord & Savior March 5, 2020. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Yvonne married the late Hutchie James, Jr. in 1976.  They combined families and raised five children.   She enjoyed laughing and singing, the louder the better. Yvonne was an avid bowler and bowled on different leagues. She enjoyed traveling and enjoyed the company of her friends and family.

Yvonne graduated from New Stanton High School, Jacksonville, Florida.  She retired from Duval County Public School System and later retired from AT&T in Atlanta, Georgia.  She was a faithful member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia until she retired and returned to Jacksonville, Florida. Yvonne then became a faithful member to Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, Jacksonville, Florida under the leadership of Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Jr.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents and son, Herschel James.  Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Eric (Valerie) West, Conyers, Georgia, Kevin (Darice) West, Oceanside, California, Sheree James, Jacksonville, Florida, Jerome (Loretta) James, Conyers, Georgia.; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;  brothers, James (Emma) West, Jacksonville, Florida and Ronald (Cynthia) Woods, Sr., Conyers, Georgia; sisters, Flossie (Eugene) Lindsey, Sr., Jacksonville, Florida, Theresa Holiday, Jacksonville, Florida; a host of devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Celebrate of life Service for Mrs. Yvonne James 11:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, Bishop R. W. McKissick, Jr., Lead Pastor; Bishop R. W. McKissick, Sr., Pastor Emeritus.   Visitation FRIDAY from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Master’s Touch Ministry, 4510 Soutel Dr.   Interment in Edgewood Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Dr, 904.924.9400.
