Toomer ~ Willie Bernard Toomer, Sr. was born August 20th, 1979, in Jacksonville Florida to the late Willie Joseph Toomer and Sheila Toomer.
His foundation was built in faith. As a child, he attended the Apostolic Church of God in Christ - the Commandment-keeping church - where he was lovingly guided by his Uncle Moses and Aunt Geraldine Toomer. Under the leadership of Elder Johnny Holmes, Willie learned early the importance of prayer, community, and living with purpose. As he grew into adulthood, Willie continued to nurture his spiritual walk, confiding in and being spiritually strengthened by Apostle Sheldon Creighton, whom he deeply respected.
Willie attended Jean Ribault High School, where he proudly played football and created memories that shaped the man he would become. He was also a devoted, die-hard, Florida State University Seminole fan - always cheering on his team with unmatched passion. Dedicated and hardworking, Willie went on to build a successful career as a Forklift Operator, taking pride in everything he did.
Psalms 145:18 “The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth” ~ meaning God hears sincere prayers from those who approach Him honestly and in line with His character, offering comfort and help even when feeling distant.
Willie lived life with passion and joy. He loved nothing more than customizing his Chevys with the loudest music and the brightest candy paint he could find, turning every ride into a statement. Willie found freedom in the outdoors, spending countless hours riding ATV’s and motorcycles, enjoying the thrill of the open air. Above all, Willie was a man of faith - a devoted believer who prayed daily and kept God close to his heart. He cherished his wife, his son, and his entire family deeply, loving them with a loyalty and warmth that will be remembered forever.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Jospeh Toomer; grandparents, James and Deretha Toomer, Rosevelt & Gloria Flowers-Wells; uncles, Moses Toomer, Herman Toomer, Rosevelt Wells, Thomas Wells; aunts, Sandra Edwards, Blondel Lloyd; nephew, Henry Atkins.
