Grissett ~ Mr. Will Whorlie Grissett was born in Jacksonville, Florida January 29, 1937 to the late Will Grissett and Emma Mae Anderson Grissett. He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida but resided in Washington, D. C. for many years until he returned home around 2002.
Will was educated in the Duval County Public Schools of Jacksonville, Florida; he graduated from Stanton Junior-Senior High School. A short time after, he matriculated to Tuskegee Institute is Tuskegee, Alabama, where he obtained his first bachelor of arts degree. Later from that same institution, he received two master degrees – one in education and another in mechanical engineering. Other accomplishments include investigator at the Fire Department in Washington, D. C. Will taught mechanical engineering, he was the deputy superintendent of the District of Columbia Public Schools and he was a master plumber. Last, but certainly not least, he was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He became a member of the Lambda Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity of Washington, D. C. in 1960.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, sons, Will Grissett III, Rodney Philyah; daughter, Alethia Cunningham; grand children and great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Brown; a host of family and friends.
