Pinckney ~ Wilhelmenia Pinckney, affectionately known as Wila, was born November 28, 1948, in St. George, South Carolina, to the late Willie E. Pinckney and Cortell Pinckney-Carroll. She was also the bonus daughter of Earl R. Carroll. Wila was preceded in death by her parents and loving sister, Linda M. Kemp. She was a graduate of Stanton Senior High School, class of 1966. Wila was a devoted employee to Royal Services until retirement. She transitioned on March 10, 2025.
Wila was the heart of our family, a guiding light who helped raise generations of children with unwavering love, patience, and wisdom. Known for her nurturing spirit and protective nature, she made it her mission to ensure that every child in her care felt safe, cherished, and supported. Her home was always a place of warmth, filled with laughter, home cooked meals, and life lessons that extended far beyond childhood. She was a source of strength in difficult times and a beacon of kindness. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through the love she gave so freely, the values she instilled, and the memories she created. Though Wila is no longer physically with us, her influence will forever be felt in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Wila leaves to cherish her memory, her partner-in-love, Brian Corbitt; only child, Theresa Mayhew (Darron); brothers, Vernon Pinckney, Earl Pinckney, Ricky Carroll; sisters, Zadie Andrews (Michael) Los Angeles, CA, Christine Thomas (Alfonso), Gwendolyn Carroll; grandchildren, Tommy Brown (Vashawn), Tiana Harris (Dewayne); great granddaughter, Zaria Brown; nephews, Antonio (Tank) Moore (Albany, GA), Antonio (Tony) Pinckney, Ricky Caldwell, Michael Andrews Jr. (Los Angeles, CA), Ricardo Solomon; nieces, Kenyatta Brown, Tameka Kemp, Kishawnee Brown, Charncey Miller (Myke) Atlanta, GA, Dwan Pinckney-Thomas, Corella (Shay) Daniels (Dallas, Tx), and Larica Solomon.
