Barrett ~ Wazim Anthony Barrett, 41, began his life journey February 1, 1980. He was born to his loving parents, Zola Patrick McCormack and Anthony “Tony” Barrett (who sadly preceded him in death) in Negril, Jamaica. Wazim was the eldest son of eight children.
His journey would eventually bring him to the United States where he would become known as the fastest kid in Asheville High School, class of 1999. He moved on to graduate with a degree in Computer Science from College of Jamaica before settling in Miami, Florida. His time in Miami was most noted for the birth of Ryan Anthony and becoming nick named "Bacon". He was a part of a brotherhood that birthed an era and gained lifelong friends.
He moved to his last earthly home in Jacksonville, Florida, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Latoya Diane Barrett, had his two amazing sons, Ryan and Zavion, and became a bonus father to Zayna Buckholtz, Zarria Harrison, and Zaire Fowler.
Wazim had a great sense of humor and deeply loved his family. He enjoyed traveling, playing video games with his kids, cooking, photography, playing football, gardening, and was a forever fan of the Miami Heat, Dolphins, and Hurricane teams.
On August 14, 2021, Wazim reached the end of his earthly journey and transitioned to his eternal resting place. He was a beautiful soul and a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend that will be missed. He leaves behind his wife, Latoya Diane Barrett; children, Zayna Buckholtz, Zarria Harrison, Ryan Barrett, Zaire Fowler, and Zavion Barrett; mother, Zola Patrick McCormack; stepfather, Dino McCormack; stepmother, Ann Barrett; siblings, Kelvin Barrett, Andre Barrett, Donte Barrett, Sabastian Barrett, Gary McCormack, David McCormack, Roma-Dorothy Atkinson Williams, and Cecelia Barrett; many more extended family and friends.
