Ferrell ~ Deacon Wayne Ferrell was born December 24, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Ms. Caldonia Ferrell. He attended the public schools of Duval County.
Deacon Ferrell was a loving, faithful, and dedicated father, brother, uncle and friend. He moved to Tampa, Florida, where he worked in construction and coached football. Deacon Ferrell enjoyed serving and teaching the word of God as much as he loved the game of football and cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers (black and yellow).
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Deacon Ferrell answered the call of our Heavenly Father, joining his mother, Ms. Caldonia Ferrell; siblings, Leothalee Brown Mitchell, Evelyn Butler, Marvin Ferrell; brothers-in-law, Mitch Mitchell, Calvin Butler, Clem Johnson. Deacon Ferrell leaves to cherish his memories, son, Wayne Ferrell Jr. (Carmen); Wayne’s mother, Genevieve Ferrell; daughters, Tammy Thomas Jones (Hawathur), Shannon Williams, Tonia Thomas; grandchildren, Brianna Jones, Damari Ferrell, Ladainian Ferrell, Sarai Ferrell, Dewayne Morales, Wrayna Ferrell; siblings, Dr. Bishop Willie Ferrell ( Margret), Nancy Harvey (Alvin), Betty Johnson (Milford), Gloria Ferrell-Johnson, Melanie Wesley (Alfred), James “Bubba” Ferrell, Kimbley Ferrell, Stephanie Ferrell; sister-in-law, Mattie Ferrell; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life service for Deacon Wayne Ferrell, Sr. will be 11:00AM Saturday, June 28, 2025, at The Soutel Chapel. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.
