Walter Cowart Obituary

 Walter J. Cowart Jr. was born September 28, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida to Walter Jean Coward Sr. and Rosa Lee McClendon Coward. He was the first child of two children born to this union. Walter joined his family church, Emanuel Missionary Baptist church, at a very early age.

He attended local schools in Duval County completing his high school education at New Stanton Senior High School in 1960.  On March 3, 1964, he joined the United States Armed Forces where he worked as an IBM Operator. When his military obligation ended he received an honorable discharge.

Walter continued his education by attending Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) and was a member of marching 100 band, Edward Waters College, Lincoln Business College and Jones College in the field of Business and Computer Technology.

He was employed in his field of expertise (computer technology) at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida in Jacksonville; with Lockheed Martin Company for approximately ten years in Orlando, Florida; and many years with Boeing/McDonnell Douglas Company in their Seattle, Washington and St. Louis, Missouri locations where he later retired. After retirement, Walter became self-employed by helping clients, friends, family with their computers hardware problems.

It was in Orlando, Florida where Walter was united in holy matrimony to Doris J. Cowart. From this union one child, Deonza C. Bullard was born. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Cowart; parents Walter and Rosa Coward; grandparents, James and Victoria McClendon; and great grandparents, William (Bill) and Mariah McClendon. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Deonza Cowart Bullard (Antonio);; grandchildren, Abria Chante’ Johnson, Kimani Ashonte’ Johnson, Antonio J. Bullard Jr, twin girls Amaria and Samiya Bullard; great grandchildren, Tekai’ Howard Tomlison, Tekari’ Shiloh Tomlison and Nevaeh Ari’ Penny; loving sister, Gwendolyn C. Grice (Jack); a special friend, Rachel Hurst; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many - many dear and devoted friends too numerous to list.

 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, either sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be no more pain; for the former things are passed away” Revelation 21:4
