On November 22, 2025, the Angel of the Lord came and sealed the lips of our beloved Sister Vera Mae Bailey Moore. She was the third child born to the late Virgil and Clara Bailey on April 15, 1926, in Dublin, Georgia.
Vera attended school in Dublin, Georgia and later moved to Jacksonville, Florida to seek employment. She met her husband in Jacksonville, and this union was blessed with two children. Vera was employed and retired from Morrison’s Cafeteria and was employed briefly doing domestic work in private homes. She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church (954 Kings Road) for many years and served on Usher Board #2; and was a member of Allies Chapel #175.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son; five daughters; two brothers, three sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Bessie Mae Bailey of Boston, Massachusetts, Squire (Maxine) Moore Jr of Homerville, Georgia, Essie (Wesley) McElveen of Cumming, Georgia, Bertha Smith of Tampa, Florida; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Virgil Bailey Jr of Boston, Massachusetts; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many good friends.
Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Vera Mae Bailey Moore will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 29, 2025 at The Soutel Chapel. Visitation Friday from 4 – 6:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.
