Venetia Moore Obituary

Moore ~ Venetia Syvaughn Moore, affectionately known to many as “Nita Von”, was born the fourth eldest child on September 15, 1957, in Jacksonville, Florida to Eugene C. Austin, Jr. and Colles Cochran. She attended the local public schools of Duval County, graduating from Stanton High School, Class of 1976.

Venetia received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. On May 15, 1981, she married her best friend, JosephI Moore, Sr., and together they shared forty blessed years of marriage. To their union, three beautiful children were born: Joseph Jr., Evedge and Jelessa. Venetia loved her family, shopping, having fun, playing cards and being with her husband. For the past seventeen years, she was a faithful member of Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor A. L. Jordan, Sr.

Venetia was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; her sisters, LaSandra Faye and Jacquelin; and brother, Eugene Jr. “Bunkie”.

Venetia leaves to cherish her precious memories, her faithful and loving husband, Deacon Joseph E. Moore, Sr.; devoted children, Joseph “Jo-Jo” Moore, Jr., Evedge “Mo-Mo” Moore, and her only daughter, Jelessa Moore; beloved grandchildren, Jelessa Moore, AndraeScott, Tanivea Kinchen; sister, Jeanette Blair (William); sister-in-love, Delois Johnson; three stepbrothers, Carey Austin, Juan Austin, Aaron Austin; stepsister, Shawn Oliver; uncle, Kenneth Austin (Deloris); aunts, Carolyn Shepphard (Willie), Clayden Montgomery, Valerese Mitchell (Ervin), Gloria Howell (James), Alice Grant; best friend and sister, Dinah LeCount; special friends, Tammy Sellers of South Carolina; as a mother figure, Mae Williams; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other loving relatives, special friends, church families, and many others who will miss her presence.

Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Venetia Syvaughn Moore will be 10:00AM Friday, September 13, 2024, at Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church, 5527 Redpoll Avenue.  Visitation Thursday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
