BREWER ~ Stella Louise Brewer made her entrance to this world January 6, 1953 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was lovingly known to her family as “Big Doo”, despite her 4’11 stature. Stella was the sixth child of her mother’s seven. She attended L’Ouverture School until grade six and was baptized at East Star Baptist Church at age eleven.
The Lord called Stella home May 12, 2021. At the time of her birth, physicians predicted that her life expectancy would be twenty years; but The Lord did not see fit to that and allowed her family and the world to enjoy the blessing of Stella for sixty-eight wonderful years. For the last twenty years of her life, Stella lived in a group home with other adults with disabilities. This situation allowed Stella to have many fun trips to the beach, to farms and Caribbean cruises. At one point, Stella also held a job, even though her only paycheck was $1.17. “Big Doo”, although nonverbal for nearly forty years, leaves a legacy of wonderful memories of fun, laughs and love. Each family member can recall an interaction with “Big Doo” that will bring smiles to the face and warmth to the heart. Although she was a tiny little woman of no words, her footprint in the lives of her family mirrors that of a giant. Stella is preceded in death by her parents, Allen Cornelius Brewer, Sr and Loretta Ann Brewer; as well as brothers, Arnold Walters Jr, Jerry Brewer, Allen Cornelius Brewer III, and Homer Lee Brewer. She is Survived by her sisters, Beulah May Coburn and Loretta Ann Cummings; a large host of loving cousins, nephews and nieces.
Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Drive, 904.924.9400
