Shirley Pope Obituary

Pope ~ Shirley Ann Pope was born December 28, 1959, to the late David & Ethel Pope in Pompano Beach, Florida. She was the sixth child of ten children: seven brothers and two sisters. Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Jr.; beloved brothers/brother-in-law, Roland, Darrell, James, and Abraham Sr.

On October 22, 1977, Shirley married Jerry Robinson. To this union four children were born, Katrina, Jerry Jr., Malisa, and Jeremy. Although they later divorced, they remained close friends, creating fond memories for their children and grandchildren.

Shirley graduated from Columbia High School, class of 1977. She worked for the School Board in Florida and South Carolina in the cafeteria and as a bus driver. When she operated the special needs bus for Columbia County School Board, her sister, Almeda, was her bus aide. Shirley was a fun-loving soul who loved everyone she met. She was the successful owner/founder of Club Classic and the Club Classic softball team. Shirley loved music and loved to sing. She spent her last years as a praying woman. Shirley would go into the rooms of other patients to sing and pray for them. With everything life threw her way, she came out with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, infectious personality, and caring heart.

Shirley loved her family and enjoyed every moment she spent with them. She leave to cherish her memory three children,  Katrina, Malisa, and Jeremy; fifteen grandchildren she adored,  De’Quan, Amari, Amiya, Amani, Amyra, Amyla, Ja’Lissa, Gianna, Alaina, Jeremy Jr, Jariya, Nevaeh, Jacques, Brazington, and Ja’more; sisters, Almeda Strawder, Cathleen Jones; brothers, Douglas Pope (Patricia), Elder Alfonso Pope (Lenny), Allen Pope (Beverly), Stanley Pope (Beverly); uncles, Arthur Johnson, Jordan Pope (Helen); a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and godsons, Tyrone White & Cornelus Griffin.
