Stokes ~ Shelvonya Montay Stokes, a devoted mother, daughter, and sister, transitioned to her heavenly home September 21, 2024, at the age of 44. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Shelvonya left an indelible mark on the lives of those who loved her.
She was a graduate of Ribault Senior High School. Shelvonya pursued her passion for healthcare by attending nursing school, striving to become a nurse and make a difference in her community. Her love, kindness, and generosity inspired countless lives. Shelvonya's legacy lives on through her family and friends, who will deeply miss her warm smile and compassionate spirit. Her energy was felt throughout the room whenever she was present. From a young age, Shelvonya exemplified a spirit of kindness and compassion that she possessed throughout life. Her laughter was infectious. She always kept the family together through family events and gatherings. Shelvonya would not let a day go by without a telephone call or a text message to lift your spirits. She was a gemstone; she was our Boobie!
Shelvonya was preceded in death by her son, Tyriq Grant; father, Michael Stokes Sr; grandfather, Elijah Riley; grandmothers, Shelly Riley, Shirley Stokes; uncle, Gregory Riley. She is survived by her daughter, Jakara Marshall; mother, Valerie Riley; stepfather, Anthony Bell Sr.; brothers, Michael Stokes, Antonio Bell (Darylneka), Anthony Bell Jr.; sister, Teneishia Bell; grandmother, Readis Riley; nephews, Ty’Rell Franklin, Anthony Bell III; nieces, Ariana Bell, Aniyah Bell, Ariyah Bell, Dariah Bell; loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Celebration of Life service for Ms. Shelvonya Montay Stokes will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Greater Refuge Temple. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.
