Evans ~ Mr. Albert Evans Jr., affectionately known as “Pep” and “Pepitone,” peacefully transitioned from this life on December 29, 2024. He was born July 3, 1953, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Albert Jone Evans, Sr. and Dora Lee Evans. Albert accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
He attended the local schools of Duval County and graduated from Stanton High School. Soon after, Albert served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. Having served faithfully and honorably, he was retired from both by July 2013, as Sergeant Albert J. Evans. After returning to Jacksonville, Florida, Albert became a dedicated employee of Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS JAX) for more than forty years. He enjoyed watching football and was a die-hard fan of the Florida State Seminoles and Pittsburgh Steelers. Albert had a gentle soul. He was funny, loving, family oriented and made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Albert will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Jone Evans, Sr.; mother, Dora Lee Geddis; and stepfather, Luther Geddis. Albert is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Evans; children, Andre Evans, Tasha Evans, Patrena Evans, Jamire Williams; grandchildren, Chris “CJ” Evans, Damante “DJ” Evans, Ja’nae Frazier, Zaire Williams, Zamire Williams; additional loving children, Alisa Carey, Jerry Gallion Jr., Latiffany Gallion, Timothy Gallion (Kennisha), Terrance Gallion; brother, Ronald Straughter; godbrother, Frank Harris; uncle, Rev. Roosevelt Geddis; aunts, Lavern Harrison, Barbara Blake; cousins, John Payton and Minnie; good friend, Willie Frison; a host of sorrowful relatives, coworkers and friends.
Celebration of Life service for Albert Jone Evans Jr. will be 11:00AM Saturday, January 4, 2024, at Greater Harvest Christian Fellowship. Visitation Friday from 4 – 6:00 PM at The Church. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 11:30AM Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
