Samuel Edward Reid

Reid ~ Samuel Edward Reid affectionately known as “Eddie” by family and close friends. Eddie was born February 18, 1970, to his late parents Sam Rubin Reid and Maggie Lee Reid in Fort Hood, Texas.  He has been a resident of Jacksonville, Florida most of his life. 

Eddie attended public schools in Jacksonville, Florida including Ribault Middle and Jean Ribault Senior High School, where he graduated as a proud member of the Class of 1988.  After earning his diploma, Eddie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his tenure as a marine, he received many accommodations and awards.  Eddie served his country honorably and was a proud war veteran.  After being honorably discharged from service, he embarked on several different careers including security and lastly his employment with Johnson and Johnson Vision as a machine technician.  

He was a loved and respected colleague and friend to many. Above all, he was an excellent father, grandfather, brother, and beloved uncle. 

 Samuel Edward “Eddie” Reid departed this life Sunday, June 4, 2023. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Sam R. Reid, and Maggie L. Reid; brother, Howard R. Reid; and nephew, Garry Anthony Albertie, Jr.  The footprints of his life shall be cherished by those he leaves behind, son, Eddie Reid; daughter, Jayla Reid; grandson, Rashaad Reid; brothers, John Reid (Princess), Michael Reid; sisters, Carmen Reid, and Samantha Reid; adopted brothers, Kharis Quaintance (Shirelle), and Herman Quaintance; nieces, Armoni Albertie, Kierra Reid, and Ariel Reid; mother of his children, LaTonya Jordan; a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. 

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Samuel Edward Reid, 1 PM Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church, 5527 Redpoll Avenue.   Visitation Friday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
