Gaskin ~ Rutha M. Gaskin was born September 13, 1934, to the proud parents, James Turner and Ruby L. Glover in Bronson, Florida; she graduated from Howard High School (Marion County) in 1955. Rutha received Christ at an early age, she attended Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ in Ocala, Florida.
She moved from Ocala to Jacksonville, Florida in the 60’s, where she continued her education, received her Cosmetology license and worked in her profession for over fifty years. Rutha also worked as a Volunteer with Community Hospice. Upon her arrival in Jacksonville, Florida, she became a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church of the Masters and later joined St. Paul AME Church, where she served many years. Rutha served as a Stewardess, Class Leader, member of the Women Progressive Club, Daniel Payne Club, Dorothy Williams church school class and James L. Williams Lay Organization. She was also a faithful member of the All People International prayer line.
In April of 1978, Rutha received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Edward Waters University (Jacksonville, Florida). She was preceded in death by her parents, James T. & Ruby L. Glover; siblings, Deloise Young, Barbara Woodson, Turner Lee Glover (Ocala, Florida) and Robert Glover (Baltimore). Rutha leaves to cherish her memories, siblings, Betty Roberts, Debra Howard, Willie Earl Glover and Joseph Williams, (Ocala, Florida); a special nephew, Victor Williams; a devoted special cousin, Veronica Williams; a host of other loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
