WALKER ~ Ruth Lee Walker was born July 6, 1932 in Sylvania, Georgia to the late Mack Sr. and Rosa Lewis. She attended the local schools in Georgia. Ruth moved from Georgia to Hastings, Florida, then to Crescent City, Florida, from there to Palatka, Florida and finally settled in Jacksonville, Florida.
She was married to Alphonso Walker and was a member of Crescent City Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and served on the Usher Ministry.
Ruth had a passion to care for others and would spend many days visiting nursing homes caring for the sick and those in need. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing and being with her family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonso Walker; grandson, Ronnie Passmore; parents; nine brothers; ten sisters. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sisters, Annie Nesmith of Jacksonville, Florida and Bernice Lewis of Miami, Florida; a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, and sorrowing friends.
Celebration of life Service for Ruth Lee Walker will be 10 AM, Friday, February 5, 2021 at The Soutel Chapel, 5065 Soutel Drive. Family will receive friends Thursday at The Chapel from 5-7 PM.
