McBride ~ Elder Rodell McBride, affectionately known as “Eric, Bruh, Elder, Elder Cuz, and Ro,” began his earthly journey June 4, 1959, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Sandra Barcous and Charlie McBride. Rodell's earthly journey was completed November 7, 2021.
Rodell attended the local schools of Duval County. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was a faithful member of Morning Star Faith Temple, Inc., under the leadership of Pastor Mary Ann Killings. Rodell was a man of God who flowed in the prophetic realm very accurately.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Brenda Joyce Hill November 7, 1987. This love affair began and continued until her passing August 31, 1999. He affectionately called her “Tudie” and loved her to the very end and ironically, his transition occurred on the anniversary date of their marriage.
Rodell was an excellent listener, loving and a very compassionate person. He was faithful, devoted, strong, a protector, a provider, and exemplified perseverance. Rodell had a way of making you feel, “No matter what, everything is going to be alright.” He was a disciplinarian who strongly believed in the scripture found in Proverbs 13:24, “He that spareth his rod….” (smile). Rodell was a big brother to his sister, Laurice, who recalls, “At times he was mom and dad” and provided her with needed hugs and constant prayer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, dad, Edward Barcous (Sheryl); brothers, Mark McBride, Donavan McBride, Alvin (Priscilla) Barcous, Dozier (Debra) Barcous; sister, Laurice Barcous; step-daughters, Sheneka Hill and Katrina Baker; stepmother, Sue McBride; grandchildren, Tyresse Bright and Brenetta Gilbert; nieces, Jasmine Linder, Ksandra Stanfield, and Alexis Barcous; nephews, Dante Barcous and Alex Barcous; aunts, Beverly Oliver, Wanda Mickens, Faye Mayrant, and Sharon Mickens; uncles, George Davis and Rosco Mickens; a host of cousins and best friends, Carmelita Dharma and Samuel Gammage.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Elder Rodell McBride, 1 PM Friday, November 12, 2021, at The Soutel Chapel. Visitation Thursday from 5 – 7 PM. Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Dr, 904.924.9400.
