Armstrong ~ Renae was born in Blackshear, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Frances Williams. She attended and graduated from Lee Street High School. Renae received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Edward Waters College and a Master of Education Degree from Florida State University.
Renae was married to the late John E. Armstrong, Sr.; God blessed them with three sons. She grew up and was a very active member of Zion Baptist Church, Blackshear, Georgia. Renae later joined Greater Grant Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church and served faithfully with many ministries over fifty years.
She was employed with the Coffee County School Board in Douglas, Georgia; Duval County School Board in Jacksonville, Florida; The African Methodist Episcopal Ministerial Alliance for three years and Aging True, eleven years. She warmed the world with her glowing and caring spirit.
Renae leaves a legacy to be carried forth by her sons, Eugene Wesley (Shirley), Atlanta, Georgia, James Leonard, Jacksonville, Florida and John Eugene Armstrong, Jr., Atlanta Georgia; grandchildren, Kelly Jayme, Jordan, Janae, Dorisha and Kelvin; brothers, Cassius (Constance), Atlanta, Georgia; Jacob (Gloria), Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Barbara Horyst, Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Alicia Williams, New York; cousins, Lorenzo Surrency, Jamaica, New York, Carolyn (Arthur) Washington, Carol City, Florida, Pearl Williams, Hollywood, Florida, Russell (Debra) Tyson, Atlanta, Georgia, Lee Tyson, Blackshear, Georgia, Rosolyn and Kenneth Burrough, Jacksonville, Florida; many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors.
