Durr ~ Purvis Jerome Durr came into this world on May 14, 1954, in High Springs, Florida, to Willie Aaron Durr and Clara Mae Durr. The family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in December 1960. He attended the local schools in Duval County, lastly being Ribault Senior High School.
Purvis was best known for his outgoing and down-to-earth personality. He was an avid Jaguar fan who loved being a season ticket holder and enjoyed attending the games when his health permitted.
He met the love of his life, Priscilla Evans, in 1980 and as the saying goes the rest is history. Purvis and Priscilla married in 1981; they have one son, Nehemiah Mallory-Durr.
During his working career he held several positions, but he was most proud of following in his dad’s footsteps and becoming a truck driver. He retired a few years ago as a truck driver due to medical challenges he was experiencing.
Purvis was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Clara Durr; brothers, Lorenza and Tony Durr; sisters, Helen Durr, Kathy Durr Knight; nephew, Craig ‘CJ’ Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-five years, Priscilla Durr; son, Nehemiah Mallory-Durr; sisters, Paula Durr James, Pamela Durr Boone; brothers-in-law, Wade Clark, Wayne Clark, John Perkins (Sonya); sister-in-law, Sylvia Evans; a host of God children, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
