Chambers ~ Mrs. Lula Bowden “Bea” Chambers, daughter of the late Joseph and Rebecca Bowden was born November 5, 1930, in Campbellton, Florida. She attended the public schools of Jackson County and was an honor graduate of St. Paul High School. Mrs. Chambers attended Edward Waters College, now Edward Waters University for two years. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul AME Church, Campbellton, Florida where she was a dedicated member. Mrs. Chambers served faithfully until her marriage.
She was united in holy matrimony to Rochel Chambers Sr., October 10, 1950. Rochel Chambers Sr. preceded her in death December 19, 1989. This union was blessed with seven children.
Mrs. Chambers was an active and faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. During her time at Friendship, she served on Usher Board number one, Love & Goodwill Society and was a member of District one. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Friday, June 24, 2022, at Baptist Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by sons, Rochel Chambers Jr and Larry Chambers Sr.; and grandson, Larry Chambers Jr.
Mrs. Chambers was the matriarch of the Chambers Family and she leaves to cherish her memory, sons, David King Chambers, Michael Ray Chambers (Kokita); devoted daughters, Balenda Chambers Fulton (William), Joyce Chambers Prince (Shedrick), Janet Chambers Mercer; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Benjamin Bowden; sister, Eula McCalister; daughters-in-law, Maria Chambers, Sheilah Chambers; many nephews and nieces; a family friend, Florence Prince, E. Betty Davis; the Texas family she so fondly and often called her children, Gloria, June, Ray, Carla, Sandra, and Alma; a host of extended family and friends.
Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Lula Bowden Chambers will be 1:00PM Friday, July 1, 2022 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Aloysious Denard. Visitation Thursday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Interment at St. Paul A M E Church Cemetery, Campbellton, Florida. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
