Jones ~ Mother Mae Francis Dobson Jones was born in Quitman, Georgia June 15, 1935, to the late John Dobson Sr. and Anna Scipio. She accepted Christ at an early age and fellowshipped with her church family throughout her life. She served as State Mother at Alexander Temple Community Church in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mother Jones attended the local schools of Duval County, graduating from Old Stanton High School in 1955. She continued her education and received an associate degree. Mother Jones married Robert Louis Jones March 26, 1955 and this union was blessed with one daughter, Juanetta, while living in Germany; her husband served in the U S Army which allowed Mother Jones to travel to many places.
She enjoyed playing and coaching basketball. Mother Jones enjoyed talking about her travels abroad and especially loved her family. She had a passion for repairing electronic devices. Mother Jones was employed with the United States Postal Service for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jones (June 9, 1977); parents, John & Anna Dobson; sister, Dorothy Fossett; in-law, Ceaser Fossett, Willie Mae Nixon, Shirley Harris. Mother Jones is survived by daughter, Juanetta R. Jones; grandchildren, Juanquinetta, Juanetta, Claireese, Clarence Jr., & Jimmy Robinson; great-grandchildren, Jayasri & Yasmine Brown, Gabriel Randolph, Nashawn Robinson, Dale “Zion” Wyman, Clair Robinson, Tyson Simmons; brother, John Dobson Jr; in-law, Marian, Willie, Rudolph, Levy, Ronnie, Bennie & Carl Jones, Evelyn Brown, Janice & Erma Flowers; god children, Adelaide, Joseph & Philip Hopkins; nephews, nieces, other relatives, church family and many sorrowing friends.
Celebration of Life service for Mother Mae Frances Dobson Jones will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Faith United Church of The Living God Inc. Greater Hill’s Temple, Pastor Leonard Goode. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery Monday, 12:30 PM, June 27, 2022. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
