Davis ~ The Story of Moses

´╗┐Mr. Moses Davis was born December 16, 1931, in Gordon, Alabama, to Pastor Frank and First Lady Annie Lou Davis.  He attended Stanton Vocational High School, and Tuskegee Institutional College in Tuskegee, Alabama.  Moses departed his earthly home for eternal rest November 29, 2023.

Moses was employed by Duval County Public Schools for over a decade.  He was a skilled carpenter who taught himself many ways of perfecting his many crafts.  When it came to teaching his students, they were in awe.  Moses was a pioneer in his community; inspirational, stronghold and a civil rights activist, seeking social and criminal justice for black people throughout Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian T. Davis; son, Moses O’Darryl Davis; great grandchildren, Aiden King, Koi Harris; his beloved parents, Pastor Frank and First Lady Annie Lou Davis; sisters, Louise Morton, Pastor Doris D. Flemming, Carrie Creech; stepdaughter, Tommi L. Clemes.

He was a loving and devoted father and PopPop.   His memory will be forever cherished by his beloved daughters, Tanya Marie Davis (Stephanie) and Cleopatra Sareah Blalock-Smith; godson, Joseph “Joe” Estabrook (Alicia); grandchildren, Be’ijz Imirra Smith & grand dog, Cocoberries Smith; Destiny Monay Johnson, Stacia Lauryn Clemes, Cicely Davis, Shadarian Davis, Darin Davis Jr, Cindy Mohammed, Tiffany Brown (Ronald), Nikesha Williams, Keith Williams, Isaiah Rice II (Takeisha), Brittany Clemes, Keinan Brown Sr. (Shemeko), Yahri Lockett, Tori-lin Clemes, Linnea Stutts (Charles); great grandchildren, Ja'Kaylah  Moore, Jaydan Davis, Regiana Davis, Jayda Davis, Briley Geddes, Kayden Wilson, Anton Davis, Kailyn Davis, Seiya Carter, Mya Carter, Syrus Mohammed, Kaitlyn and Kori, Sanaiyah, Lillian, Isaiah III, and Marley, Rhyan Clemes, Victor Downing, Keinan Jr., Keimari, Peyton, Khenadi, Paisley, Keirsten, Phoenix; Charles E. “Chip” Stutts, Jr., Liliona J. Stutts, Derrick Estabrook; great nephew, Reginald Paramoure (Christina), Reginald III, Maxwell, Maximus, Raisa, Maddox;  devoted family,  Cousin Henry Lee Arline, Uncle Reginald Bridges, Cindy A. Mohammed, Eugena A Jones, Dr. Charles L. Smith, Mr. & Mrs. Bruce and Hermonyone Walker, Lester Muhammad; a host of other relatives and friends.

Dearest stepdaughters, Arnetter Rice (Daron), Janice Williams, Nikki Williams, and Yvette Williams.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Moses Davis, 12 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at The Soutel Chapel.  Visitation Monday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Entombment in Edgewood Cemetery.  Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J.
