Me’Nisha Tenay Jones, affectionately known as “Mo”, was born on August 20, 1995, in Fairfax County, Virginia to Rodney C. Jones and Shawndala M. Jones. Me’Nisha was Shauna’s only child and Rodney’s first daughter. The Lord called Me’Nisha home on October 29, 2023. She was 28 years old. Me’Nisha was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Ernest and Bernice Smith and LaSalle Richardson; grandparents, Ronnie “Larry” Jones, William and Mary Alice Jones; uncles, DeMarcus “Bebe” Richardson, Ronnie Jones Jr. and Alonzo Jones; bonus brother, Erik Gist; and precious dogs, Marbles “The OG” and Patches.
While Me’Nisha was born in Virginia, she was raised in Jacksonville, FL “DDUUUUVVVAAALLLL”! She graduated from Paxon School for Advanced Studies in May of 2013. Me’Nisha was a very active Eagle involved in many extracurricular activities including the girls’ basketball team. Me’Nisha continued her education at the University of Central Florida where she graduated with a B.S. in Psychology concentrating in pre-veterinary medicine in May of 2017. CHARGE ON! Once again Me’Nisha chose to share her light with others and was involved in many activities. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Co-Ed Business Fraternity (Community Service Chair), SISTUHS, Inc., Volunteer UCF (Youth & Mentoring Board Director), First Knights (President), and UCF Research Academy. She also competed in the first Progressive Black Men pageant at UCF earning the title of Ms. Emerald. Me’Nisha obtained her Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences with a concentration in Shelter Medicine from THE University of Florida in August of 2021. GO GATORS!
On April 5, 2018, Me’Nisha enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve Corp where she served until her sunset. She attended Basic Training at Lakeland AFB in San Antonio, Texas and completed Advanced Individual Training at Sheppard AFB in Wichita County, Texas. After completing both trainings, Me’Nisha, was stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida. She was a senior airman assigned to the 927th Aircraft Squadron where she served as the crew chief of the KC135.
Me’Nisha loved animals since she was a child and was well on her way to becoming a veterinarian set to leave for veterinary school in 2024. In high school she volunteered at the Jacksonville Zoo. She continued this service in college by volunteering with Orange County Animal Services. She traveled to South Africa with the Safari4U pre-vet internship. Throughout her collegiate and postgraduate studies, she worked at several animal hospitals and shelters. At the time of her death, she was a veterinary technician at South Orlando Animal Hospital in Orlando, Florida.
Me’Nisha loved Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of The Church of Higher Praise where she participated in the P31 Women’s Ministry, the women’s praise dance ministry, and the hospitality committee. She loved to dance and was always on the dance floor. In the Fall of 2023, Me’Nisha completed a long-term goal and became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Delta Alpha Mu Zeta Chapter). #7
Me’Nisha was full of life, light, and love. She was the life of every event she went to and loved to have fun. She loved hard and with her whole heart. She was extremely creative and could slay your eyebrows, lashes, and any DIY project! Our girl always shined like a diamond! She will be missed forever. She leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Shawndala Jones (Jacksonville, FL); father, Rodney (Monica) Jones (Manassas, VA); brothers, Rodney II, William (Erin) Jones, and Jordan C. Gist- Jones; sister, Brailey N Gist-Jones; uncles, Keanu and Jeffrey Jones; aunts, Jaqlyen Jones, Sharon Daniels, Sheila Powell, Cindy Jones, Shauntrelle Jackson, and Courtney (Jermel) Richardson-Jones; Grandparents, Rita Richardson and Stephen Richardson; God Children, Malia Blandin, Amir King, Neveah Walker, and Jacia Williams; Best Friends, Devin Pinkney, Alicia Clark, Jameel Williams, Diamond Wingo, and Anesia Flowers; dog, Skittles; 5 nieces, 11 great aunts, 6 great uncles, a host of cousins, great-great uncles and aunts, relatives, friends and chosen family.
Celebration of Life service for Ms. Me’Nisha Tenay Jones will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Philippian Community Church. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Masters Touch, 4510 Soutel Drive. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
