Maurice James McKinnon

MCKINNON ~ Maurice “peanut” McKinnon (known to the kids as “playa”), son of Bobby McKinnon and the late Katie McKinnon was born November 11, 1977 in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  At the mere age of four years, Maurice moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he attended the public schools of Duval County, graduating from Jean Ribault High School. 

Maurice was a father and friend. He was a kind and gentle spirit.  To know Maurice was to love him.  Every Sunday he enjoyed playing “Madden” with his brother Reggie and friends. 

Maurice departed this life Thursday February 25, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his loving mother. Maurice is survived by three daughters, Maurkiesha, Keanu, Kh’maria; two sons, Josiah and Jacob; brother, Reginald (Sandrell); sisters, Sharmekia Moon-Phillips, Courtney Daniels; a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, and a myriad of friends. 

Graveside Service for Maurice McKinnon will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 13, 2021, Edgewood Cemetery, 4519 Edgewood Drive North.  Visitation Friday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J.
