Mattie Ruth Carlisle

Carlisle ~ Mattie “Ruth” Carlisle was born April 22, 1937 in Troy, Alabama to the late Willie and Joe Anna Carlisle.

As a young adult, Ruth moved to Jacksonville, Florida.  She was well known and loved by all.  Ruth has always opened her home to both family and friends.  Everyone knew they could stop by for a home cooked meal.  Ruth enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.  Her favorite pastime was going fishing. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her devoted life partner for over fifty years, Rufus Graham, Jr.; loving daughter, Cassandra “Lynn” Carlisle; parents; brothers, Willie, Frank; sisters, Sirfronia, Callie Mae. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, James (Judy), Roderick (Yvette); caring daughters, Bobbie Jean (Jatha), Willie Mae (Jerome); grandchildren, Alysia (Terrance), Bobby (Alexis), George, Shontoria, Tameka, Eddie, Michelle, Jatha (Tasha), Antonio (Felecha), Colin (Lashawdra), Regina; twenty-two great grandchildren; devoted sister, Mary Ann; godchildren, Maurice Fields and Debra “Shawn” Starks; longtime frineds, Patricia & Betty; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many loving friends.

Celebration of Life service for Mattie Ruth Carlisle will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, April 2, 2022 at True Holiness Church, 4022 Spring Grove Avenue, Elder Evelyn Mosley Pastor.  Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park North.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
