Dyson ~ Margaret Dyson, 82 years of life, was born January 4, 1944, to Charlie and Mable (Patterson) Wiley, in Perry, Florida. She peacefully transitioned from this life to her heavenly home February 14, 2026. Margaret was one of eight children, Sara McCloud, Carrie Cook, Christine Hightower, Sam Wiley, Charlie Wiley, James Wiley, and Thomas Wiley. Early in the life of Margaret, she acknowledged and received Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
In 1986, Margaret met and began a meaningful relationship with Marvin Dyson, with whom on December 17, 1988, she married. They were married for fifteen productive years until the Lord called Deacon Marvin to his heavenly home.
MILITARY CAREER ~ Margaret enlisted in the United States Army early in 1972. She proficiently passed her basic and advanced training. And, because of Margaret’s focus and determination, she swiftly rose to Staff Sergeant; Margaret served her country on multiple stateside bases, as well as overseas.
EDUCATION ~ Nova Southeastern University Education Specialist, Learning Strategies, sociology, psychological testing, behavioral sciences 1992 – 1994; Grade 9 - 12th Activities and societies ~ Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Alumnae Chapter Member of the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) Advisor, Explorer Post 99 (Health Services), National Society of Notaries Boston University School of Education; AA, BS, Master of Education.
CAREERS ~ Administrative Aide Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), May 1977 - Aug 1985 • 8 yrs 4 months, Responsible for typing of correspondence for the Chief, Housing Assistance Program, attending meetings, scheduling appointments, in charge of appointment calendar, kept schedule for conference room, taking notes and other duties as assigned; Duval County Public Schools, Jan 1984 - Mar 2009 • 25 years, Exception educator taught students of varying exceptionalities in the Duval Schools. Additionally, taught at Duval County Residential Facilities, as well as Youth Crisis Center (YCC). Teacher of varying exceptionalities, taught subjects in English, Math, History, Science, Social Studies, Health, and writing. Certified in ESOL and Reading Competences. Chairperson, Exceptional Student Education Lead teacher, Youth Crisis Center Lead teacher, Duval Half-way House, Adult Basic Education, FCCJ, Substitute Teacher, Duval Detention Center.
CHURCH/SPIRITUAL LIFE ~ Faithful servant-leader in The Bethel Church; as a deacon and as a church-school teacher. She also served faithfully visiting and ministering to the sick and shut in of the church.
VOLUNTEER/SERVICE ~ Volunteer Counselor Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, Inc., Education Volunteer Counselor with Elder Source, Serving the Health & Needs of the Elderly; Florida Senior Medicare Program (SMP) providing presentations at State and local events, health fairs, community centers, facilities. Volunteer also with Senior Vs Crimes providing presentations to seniors about scams primarily used to victimize seniors.
FAMILY SURVIVORS ~ Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Roy D. Jackson, Sr. and Mark V. Jackson; grandchildren, Mark Jackson, Jr., Faith Jackson, Roy D. Jackson III, Bryan L. Jackson, Demarius Jackson, Jamal Jackson, Alexandria Richardson, Zaria Jackson; a host of loving family and friends.
Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Margaret Dyson will be 11:00AM Saturday, March 7, 2026 at The Bethel Church, 215 Bethel Baptist Street. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.
