Mamie Hill Obituary

Hill ~ MAMIE HILL was born September 16, 1943, to the late Adam Miller, Sr. and Victoria C. Miller in Eulonia, Georgia. She received her early education in the public schools of Glynn County and Duval County, graduating from Walker Business and Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, Florida.

Her religious affiliation was with Woodlawn Presbyterian Church (USA) for many years, where she served as a Deacon, Moderator of the Presbyterian Women’s Organization for two terms, and Historian for many years.  Mamie was also a faithful member of the Seniors and Retirees Organization, and she was an unofficial liaison between Riverside Presbyterian and Woodlawn Presbyterian Church.  She was a very active member of Church Women United, where she once served as Vice President.

Mamie was a lifelong educator where she taught in Nassau, Duval, and Clay County.  She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. William Frederick Hill, August 19, 1962.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Victoria Miller; brother, Rufus Miller.  On June 11, 2025, God in His infinite wisdom, called Mrs. Mamie Hill to eternal rest.   She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, William Hill; daughter, Willetta Hill Calvin (Charlie); grandchildren, Marquita Hill (Daniel), Marcell Hill (Cristal) and Eric Pitt (Priscilla); great-grandchildren, Janaesha Hill, Za-Kiayh Johnson, Keori Hill, Marquette Pitt, Ana-Ellece Pitt; brothers, John Miller, Adam Miller, Jr., Lorenzo Miller; sister, Charls-etta Sweet; number of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Mrs. Helen Wright, Mrs. Vivian Porter, Mrs. Ruth Capers, Mrs. Sabrina Williams, Mr. Floyd Wimberly and Rev. Ernest and Annie Pearl Griffin.

Memorial Service for Mrs. Mamie Hill will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 21, 2025, Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 3026 Woodlawn Road.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Dr, 904.924.9400.
