Iszard ~ Jerry and Lois Iszard were married in Jacksonville, Florida, January 26, 1952.
Jerry Iszard Jr. was born in Jacksonville, Florida, July 25, 1923, to Jerry Iszard, Sr. and Edna Howe Iszard. He was educated in Duval County and a 1942 graduate of Stanton High School. Jerry served in the US Army and was a WW-II veteran. He advanced his education at Morehouse College and was a 1950 graduate of the School of Pharmacy, Howard University located in Washington, D.C.
After returning to Jacksonville, Jerry opened “Jerico Pharmacy” and served the African-American community for over twenty-five years. After closing his business, Jerry also had a long and rewarding career of more than twenty years with the Veterans Administration Pharmacy Outpatient Clinic in Jacksonville. He was also a life-time member of the FLAJAX Club service organization and a life-time member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc.
Lois McClendon Iszard was born in Shorterville, Alabama, July 22, 1929, to Willie and Minnie McClendon. Her early life and education began in Donalsonville, Georgia. She went on to attend Bethune-Cookman College where she met and married Jerry in 1952. Later, she received her B.S. degree from Edward Waters College and her Masters from the University of Florida in 1972 in Early Childhood Education. For many years she served as a teacher and curriculum writer for the Duval County School System before retiring in the early 1990s. Lois was member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The Smart Set, The Links and FLAJILLS.
From their loving marriage was a family of four children: Roxanne, Frederick [deceased] (Arletta), Reginald (Tracie), and Marcus (Erica). There are six grandchildren: Byron, Brandon (Krystal), Racquel, Randall, Mallory, and Makenzie Iszard; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Aliyah. Additionally, there are a host of extended nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
Celebration of Life service for Mr. Jerry Iszard, Jr. & Mrs. Lois Iszard will be 12:00PM Saturday, December 10, 2022 at The Soutel Chapel. Visitation Saturday one hour before the service, from 11 – 12:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Because of the love of their family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
