Lillian V. Wilson

Lillian V. Gibson Wilson, affectionately known as “Lily,” was born May 6, 1941, in Troy, Alabama, to the late Tom and Idell Gibson. She peacefully departed this life on June 8, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion to family and community.

Lillian accepted Christ at an early age and carried her faith quietly and consistently throughout her life. She attended Corner Flat Community School and Shellhorn High School in Troy, Alabama. In 1956, Lillian moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she built a life centered on family, care for others, and service to her community.

On August 24, 1974, she married the late Walter “Billy” Wilson in Jacksonville, Florida. Together, they shared a loving union and built a healthy family foundation. Lillian was blessed with four children: Elaine E. Gibson of Lithonia, Georgia, Donzette L. Shaw-Graham, Sebrina Y. Gibson-Williams, and Andre A. Wilson, all of Jacksonville, Florida. She also lovingly embraced four stepchildren: Carol V. Wilson-Woods (Dwayne), Karen Carn-West (John), Kathy Wilson-Stewart (Calvin), and the late Henry Wilson, all of Jacksonville, Florida.

Lily was well known throughout her community as the “Candy Lady”. Lillian was a beloved neighbor who welcomed everyone with warmth and generosity. She was admired for her beautiful garden and her tasteful culinary skills, often preparing meals for anyone in need. Her home was a place of comfort, hospitality, care, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Preceded her in death are two sisters/brothers-in-law, Lois (Willie) Fuller of Jacksonville, Florida, Robbie (David) Williams of Troy, Alabama, Cleveland Johnson; brothers, Tom F. Gibson of Jacksonville Florida, RB Kelly of New York, New York, JW (Catherine) Bradberry of Montgomery, Alabama and Jessie Ray Gibson of Troy, Alabama; a cherished grandson, Jordan Wilson, of Jacksonville, Florida. Lillian is survived by an older sister, Yvonne Johnson; younger brothers, John A. (Barbara) Gibson of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ray Gibson of Montgomery, Alabama. Her love and guidance extended to fourteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory forward.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to her caregiver, Yulunda Waters, for her kindness, love, and devoted support during Lillian’s care.

Lillian’s life was defined by love, generosity, and dedication to those around her, leaving a lasting legacy that will be remembered with deep affection for all the days of our lives.

Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Lillian V. Gibson Wilson will be 11:00AM Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church.  Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment in Restlawn Memorial Park. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
