Leroy Owens, III

OWENS ~ Leroy “TT” Owens III was born November 14, 1969 to Leroy Owens, Jr. and Brenda Joyce Anderson. He passed peacefully into eternal rest November 23, 2020 with his mother, brother and long-time friend at his bedside.

Leroy graduated from Hilliard High School in 1989.  He played basketball for the Hilliard Red Flashes and wore jersey #11; he was one of Hilliard Red Flashes’ number one players.  Leroy enjoyed watching the Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida State Seminoles with his brother and cousin.  He also enjoyed fishing, wrestling and spending time with family.

Leroy was employed by Smith Brothers.  He had a passion for people, he was kindhearted and loving, putting everyone before himself.  Leroy was fascinated by cars, especially his caprice box Chevy and he loved his horse “Buck”.  He attended Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sidney Owens; grandfathers, Levi Anderson, Sr.  and Leroy Owens, Sr.; grandmothers, Catherine Brown and Doris Owens; uncles, Levi Anderson, Jr. and Terry Anderson Sr.; aunts, Sandra Anderson, Ernestine Bailey, Vivan Owens, and Julia McGowan; nephew, Maurice Anderson, Sr.; cousin, Theodore Anderson; god daughter, Ca’Miyah Mayhew. Leroy is survived by his children, Dominique Sr., Daxiver, Ta’ Shara, Elijah Sr. Owens and Joshua Stripling; grandchildren, Dominique Jr., Zariah, E’Lajah, Ma’Lijah, Elijah Jr., Kinsley Owens and Kendall James; a loving and devoted mother who stayed at his bedside throughout the years, Brenda “Joyce” Johnson; father, Leroy Owens, Jr.; brothers, Paul “99” Anderson, Norman Hare, Edwin Mack, Chris Robinson, Ben and Derrick Owens; sisters, Kinuko “Kim” Anderson, Lisa Raus, Ashley Oliver and Kimyetta Jackson; grandmother, Marquerite Anderson; uncles, Alphonso Anderson (Lynette), Theodore Anderson, Jerry Owens and William “Lenny” Brown; aunts, Martha Pollock, Belinda Ferguson, Chaurese Crawford (Glendrick), Dorothy Kinard (George), Gloria Watson, Ida Brown, Tasha Jackson, Vanessa Smith and Perry Owens; godchildren, Ca’Liyah Mayhew, Raewon Shaw, Justice, Genesis and Christian Nunnery; god brother, Chris Bailey; god sisters, Amiracle Hare and Carrie Jo Tadlock; a host of sorrowing family and life-long friends, including Patrice Postell, Alexis, Ninesha and Ni’Yanna Anderson, Terrance Anderson, Desi and Joshua Hall, Sha’Lisha McCray, Paul “Nuk” Anderson, Nijel and Ni’quan Anderson, Paulette George, Gloria Smith, Ormand Ford (Maggie), Theresa Washington, Shydrika and Trinity Copeland, Tommy Pratt, Adressa Clark and Ashley Nunnery.  Leroy will be missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life Service for Leroy Owens, III will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church, 5527 Redpoll Avenue, Pastor A. L. Jordan, Sr.  Family will receive friends Friday at the church from 5 – 7 PM.  Because of the love of his family arrangements entrusted to J. E.
