Williams ~ Johnnie Williams went home to glory Saturday, October 23, 2021. He was born April 11, 1928 in Douglas, Georgia to the proud parents of the late William Williams and Mandy Jones. Johnnie was the eldest of five children and all preceded him in passing – Jefferson, Ruby, Lee and Ella Mae. With God’s infinite wisdom guiding him through life at an early age, limited his education to the third grade. He was still able to accomplish his dreams and ideas by becoming a homeowner of several properties, working as foreman in construction, then to lead crane operator. As the years passed, Johnnie got into building (becoming a carpenter). He enjoyed the skill of carpentry so much that he took it up as a full-time trade. Retiring altogether in the early 2000’s, he found hobbies in watching westerns (cowboys and Indians), going to church, watching the Jacksonville Jaguars games and a minimum of time beating on something with a hammer. During his lifetime, he has seen a lot of history prevail.
Johnnie’s family tree continues through his amazing and beloved wife, LaShawn Williams (they celebrated sixteen years strong September 2021); through changes and challenges, all his children were special to his heart – Johnisha R. Hughes (Ronell), Sharon Pritchard, Anitreas Weeks, DeMarcus Weeks, Schawn Rivers, Corey Rivers; his delight in every grandchild, great grand, great-great grand; his dearest DaiJai Hughes and his pet Diamond; sister-in-law, Deborah Wells; god daughters, Deatrice Stroud (Jay) and Nevaeh Bigham; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his oldest child, Michelle Adams.
