Joan E. Mathis

Mathis ~ Joan E. Mathis, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 11, 2026, after a long struggle with lung cancer.  Born on July 2, 1947, Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was known for her kindness, generosity and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved father and mother. She is survived by her beloved husband, Roosevelt Cobb Sr; son, Shane Mathis; grandchildren, Shannah, Jasmine, Colby, Evan, and Jayven Mathis; stepsons, Roosevelt Cobb Jr, Alankato D. Cobb; many other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

Her warm smile, caring heart and faithful spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to live on in the heart of her family and friends.

Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Joan E. Mathis will be 11:00AM Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at The Soutel Chapel.  Visitation Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00AM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries and Cremation Gardens South.
