WAITERS ~ Mr. James R. Waiters, affectionally known as “Piggy”, was born November 16, 1958 in Jacksonville, Florida to the union of James R. Waiters (deceased) and Mather L. Waiters.
During his childhood years, James gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Bible Way Church under the leadership of the late Elder Daise. James was educated in the public school system of Jacksonville, Florida. He was well known in the community and loved by all. James was known as an easy-going person who would help anyone in need. He was a wonderful person to have as a friend.
James began working in the automobile mechanic field and learned the skill of repairing cars. He became the go-to person when friends needed car repairs. James also trained in the construction field; in this he found his passion. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he lived for several years. James and his family later moved to Hackensack, New Jersey where he continued to work in the construction and carpentry industry. He established his own business of repairing and restoring old Brownstone buildings in the New York and New Jersey area. James was a member of the Northeast Carpenter’s Union. He moved back to Jacksonville, Florida where he continued in the carpentry industry until illness forced him to retire.
James passed peacefully into eternal rest Friday, March 12, 2021. He was preceded in death by father, James Waiters, Sr.; sisters, Mary Nealy and Regina Sears. James leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Jennifer Waiters; daughter, Nedra Adams; mother, Missionary Mather L. Waiters; sister, Mamie “Mimi” Clark (English); brothers, Russell E. Waiters of Dallas, Texas and Reginald D. Waiters of Jacksonville, Florida; special friend, Amanda Simmons; a host of aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends, some of whom are more like brothers and sisters than friends.
Graveside Service for James R. Waiters will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 17, 2021, Restlawn Memorial Park South, 3301 Moncrief Road West. Visitation Tuesday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel.
