Iran Simmons Obituary

Simmons ~ “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” – Matthew 25:23

Iran Lamar Simmons was born to the union of Vander Norris and Rachel Simmons Brown on January 10, 1965, in Jacksonville, Florida.  He was reared and received his education in local schools in Jacksonville, Florida.  Iran further his education in the legal field and was a licensed paralegal.  He was known for his diligence, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to helping others in their time of legal need.  Iran used his knowledge to assist many, helping them navigate difficult legal situations with care and dedication.  He furthered his gift of love by preaching and declaring the Word of God to others, sharing his faith with passion and conviction.

Iran was preceded in death by his parents, Vander and Rachel Brown; siblings, Vander Norris Jr, Felicia Simmons; uncles, Clyde Simmons Sr, Louis Simmons, Randy Simmons, Larry Simmons; aunts, Louvenia Simmons-Pace, Wendy Simmons. He leaves to cherish his love and memories, children, Sade Simmons, Joshua Roberts Sr, Tierra McGhee, Iran Wilson; grandchildren, Joshua Roberts Jr, Isaiah Roberts, J’Adore Roberts, Jhamarri Simmons, Al Savioin Nelson, Lauren Mathis, Legend Hollands, Leilani Hollands, Ivyon Wilson, Yelaina Wilson; (spiritual son and grandchildren), Curtis Newkirk Sr, Alexandria Newkirk, Curtis Newkirk Jr; father, Willie Brown; siblings, Yvonne (Darren) Garlington, Corey (LaFonda) Simmons, Dwayne Kemp; aunt & uncle, Betty Simmons & Gregory Simmons; beloved cousins, Lisa Simmons, Terry Simmons, who were more of his sister and brother in bond and love; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life service for Iran Lamar Simmons will be 11:00AM Saturday, April 18, 2026 at First Chronicles Baptist Church, 2559 West 30th Street.  Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment in Restlawn Memorial Park.
