DUNBAR ~ Gloria Beatrice Dunbar was born February 4, 1933 to Henderson and Rebecca Platt Dean. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, graduating from Old Stanton High School.
October 1952, Gloria was united in holy matrimony to Marion Dunbar and to that union four children were born. She was employed at Afro-American Life Insurance Company for thirty- five years. Gloria joined Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Author T. Britt. She moved her membership to Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend S. L. Badger, Sr. and served on Usher Board #3. Later, she returned to Second Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Odell Smith Jr. where she was a member of Evangelism Explosion, Vacation Bible School.
Gloria was preceded in death by her son, James Dunbar; daughter, Rita Dunbar Martin; and brother, Joseph Dean. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Joseph Dunbar; daughter, Jacquelyn Dunbar; grandsons, Antwan (Tere) Martin, Sr., Joseph Young; granddaughter, Antionette Martin; great-grandchildren, Antwan Martin, Carmen Martin, Moriah Marshall, Laila Marshall; brother-in-law, Solomon Dunbar; sister-in-law, Bertha Dean; many other sorrowing nephews, nieces and cousins.
