Kitt ~ Mrs. Glenish Maria Kitt was born September 28, 1957 to Willie Riley and Paula Tarver-Riley. She attended Duval County Public Schools. Mrs. Kitt resided in Jacksonville, Florida for the majority of her life; she located to New York where she met and married Frederick Kitt. The family returned to Jacksonville, Florida where she resided until her demise, August 13, 2021. Mrs. Kitt accepted Christ at an early age and was truly a child of God; she loved the Lord.
She was employed as a Child Care Teacher, where she demonstrated her gifts as a story writer for children’s books and her ability to teach and manage the care of infants and toddlers. The children and their parents lovingly referred to her as “Ms. Kitten”. Mrs. Kitt was most recently employed as a claims representative at Blue Cross Blue Shield.
She had the voice of an angel and was oftentimes a guest soloist at various religious and social events. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and her extended family. Ms. Kitt was an excellent cook; her potato pies and potato salad were favorites at Thanksgiving, Christmas and other family gatherings.
Mrs. Kitt was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ray-Michael Fossett; sister, Michelle Caldwell; stepmother, Mrs. A. Riley. She was very much loved by her immediate and extended family whom she leaves to cherish her loving memory, devoted husband, Fredrick Kitt, Sr.; sons, Fredrick Kitt, Jr., Alvin Kitt; daughter, Joy Kitt; grandchildren, Noah Kitt, Joshua Kitt, Gabrielle Kitt, Israel Kitt, Elisha Kitt; brothers, Raymond Riley, Kenny Riley, Carlton Riley, Paul Riley, Raymond Caldwell, Braxton Fossett; sisters, Janice Anderson, Irene Smith; uncles, James Tarver, Thomas (Beneatha) Tarver, Wayne McNeil, William Green; aunts, Gwendolyn Lee, Martha Tarver, Mary (David) Manigault; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many sorrowing friends.
Graveside Service for Mrs. Glenish Maria Kitt will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 25, 2021, Restlawn Memorial Park South, 3201 Moncrief Road W. Visitation Tuesday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel.
