Geraldine Herring

HERRING ~ Geraldine Herring, affectionally known as “Gerri”, was born August 21, 1950, to the late Daisy Lanier Henderson and JB Rodwell in Fitzgerald, Georgia. She grew up in a loving and nurturing home with her seven siblings.  Gerri was educated in the Duval county school system. She was joined in holy matrimony to her loving husband, Melvin, of more than fifty-three years.  Gerri was a dedicated employee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and in 2006 she retired after thirty years of faithful service.

She gave her life to Christ and was a devoted member of The Church Of God Of Prophecy until she gained entry into her heavenly home. Gerri had a passion for singing, you could always count on her to serenade you with her special birthday song.  Christmas was a special time for her... it was her favorite holiday. You could always count on her for a delicious meal and a fantastic family gathering.  

Gerri was preceded in death by her sister, Annette Brown and leaves to cherish her memory beloved husband, Melvin Herring; children, Andre Herring (Carolyn), Shawnderia Thompson (Jeff Franklin); grandchildren, Dreshaun Thompson, Roger Thompson III, Rashad Thompson, John Owens, Andre Herring, Jr., Serenity Bain; siblings, Mattie Thomas (Amon), David Henderson (Emily), Flora Collins of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas Henderson (Sharon), Deloris Jones (Jeremiah), Jacqueline Lovett, Sharon Polite, Pamela Williams (Joe), Oleatha Player & Marie Bryant of Fitzgerald, Georgia; special aunt, Barbara Graham of Miami, Florida; goddaughter, Jasmine Caldwell; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and friends.

Graveside Service for Geraldine Herring will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Restlawn Memorial Park, 3301 Moncrief Road West.  Visitation Friday at The Soutel Chapel from 5–7 PM.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
