Carson ~ Geraldine N. Carson, affectionately known as Gerri, was born February 8, 1953, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late James Nix, Sr. and Vera Mae Nix. A lifelong resident, she attended schools in Duval County graduating from Old Stanton Vocational School in 1970.
In 1972, Geraldine started working at Bellsouth. She loved her job as an operator, which allowed her to talk to people all over the United States. Geraldine was a giver at heart, always lending a hand where there was a need. A life full of gratitude, faithfulness and caring was what she displayed. Known as an “avid animal lover”, she had many pets through the years and made them all feel loved. Her love for her little white French bulldog, Snowball, always had her attention.
Her daughter, Renee Webb, was her best friend and confidant. She and her daughter shared many laughs and supported one another for whatever they wanted to accomplish. As a mother, she displayed kindness and led by example, how to portray selfless acts of love and keeping your promise to others.
Geraldine passed from this life on June 13, 2026, with her loving daughter by her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Willie Carson; brother, Wesley Gibson; sisters, Rose Marie Newell, Vivian Byrd. In addition to Renee, Geraldine will be lovingly remembered by brothers, James Nix Jr, Bruce Gibson, Sr (Lucy); sister, Cynthia Griffin; step children, Roosevelt Jones and family (LaShanda, Brandon, Shay, Rosalyn, Mary), Willette Carson and family (Joslyn, Adam, Aaliyah); nephews, Brian Nix Jr, Bruce Gibson Jr; nieces, Carla Harvey, Theresa Mayhew; great companion, Monty Henry (who has been at Geraldine’s side faithfully since 2004, dependable, showing acts of love and devotion in making her happy); best friends, Jane Dyer, Valeka Jones (who helped to care for Geraldine); a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
