Brantley ~ George Brantley was born August 25, 1946 in Louisville, Georgia to Homer and Essie Mae Gibbons Brantley. He attended school in Louisville, Jefferson County, Georgia.
Deacon Brantley was a member of Philippi Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Perry. He was employed with Masovics Grocers for many years. Deacon Brantley worked with concrete, showed much love, was compassionate and understandable. More than anything, Deacon Brantley would let you know what was going on as he was firm in what he believed; to many, he was a super hero. He enjoyed family and traveling to Georgia.
Preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Brantley; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Homer Brantley; daughter, Latonya Brantley; siblings, Wiggins Gibbons, Jennie Bell Brantley, Billy Brantley. Deacon Brantley is survived by children, George Brantley, Jr. & Mary Brantley; grandchildren, Kiana Brantley, George Brantley III, Michayla Traverso; great grandchildren, Neveah & Dorian Traverso; siblings, Eloise Bigham, Jessie Sheard, Roger Brantley, Barbara Leacock, Betty (Walter) Gibbons, Joseph Brantley, Martha Brantley, Alberta Heggs; aunt, Marie Johnson; a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Deacon George Brantley, Sr., 2 PM Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Philippi Missionary Baptist Church, 9232 Gibson Avenue. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Dr, 904.924.9400.
