Frankie London Obituary

London ~ Mr. Frankie Lee London was born July 11, 1942, the 4th of 9 siblings in the family home on Minnie Street, in Jacksonville Florida, to the parentage of the late Mr. Curtis London, Sr. and Mrs. Elisabeth Simmons London. On Tuesday April 26, 2023, he answered the Voice of God saying, “Come Home My Child.”

He was educated through Duval County Public School System as well as Bibb and Houston Counties in Georgia. Mr. London, along with his siblings were baptized at Greater Turner Tabernacle AME Church in Macon Georgia, where he was active in Sunday School and youth organizations. From early childhood he would show himself to be the caretaker that he would become and practice throughout his life. After the death of his grandfather, Reverend Charlie London in Georgia, he lived with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Toomer London, and cared for her, until both moved to Jacksonville. Mr. London was certified through Jacksonville Caregiver Training School, which provided him the opportunity to care for and travel with the Holiday Family for several years. He never lost his passion for cooking, so he also worked as a cook in local restaurants. When his health began failing, Mr. London retired and spent more time with family and friends in his community. His first and favorite niece, Mrs. Valder Dornes Vance was his constant companion until her death in July 2021.

His brothers, Charlie, Curtis Jr., Jimmie Lee, Bennie Lee, Alphonso, and Harold preceded him in death; his grandmother, Mrs. Mary J. Redmond Herrien; nephew, Curtis III.

Family and friends’ gatherings and cooking were his favorite pastimes. Mr. London was born into a large family, but he thought he needed more, so he ‘adopted’ too many cousins, nieces, and nephews to count. He always looked forward to spending days with his cousin, Mrs. Cotis Lamar Allen for the 2-parties-in-one-day gathering. His cousins credit him with teaching them home management and cooking skills.

Mr. London leaves to cherish his memories his sister, Mrs. Rubbie London Major, College Park, Georgia; brother, Mr. Willie Griffin, Gainesville Florida;  nephews & nieces, Ms. Lorretta London, Trenton NJ, Mr. Larry London Sr., Wilmington DE, Mr. Timothy London, Mrs. Elizabeth London Johnson (Morris), Ewing Township NJ, Mr. Patrick Major, Sr. College Park, GA, Mr. Darren Major, New York City, NY, Mr. Bryan London Sr. (Kimberly) San Antonio, TX, Mr. Eric London Sr. and Ms. Tammie Riley, Macon, GA, Ms. Carol Riley, Austell, GA, Mrs. Shayla London Breedlove, Mrs. Tia Heard (Danny) Hahira, GA,  Mr. Andrew Mathison, Deerfield Beach, FL; His Jacksonville Cousins; The Redmond and Lamar Families; His Georgia Cousins: Simmons, Solomon, and King Families; His Circle of Friends, Phyllis Smothers, Tim Rogers, Antonia Butler, Maurice Anderson, Johnnie Belle Powell, Janie Wright  and Curtis Butler.
