Simmons - Frank was born October 19, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Solomon Simmons and Margaret Howard Britt. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Frank was a loving son, brother, and uncle, known for his warm heart, fun spirit, and dedication to his family. Throughout his life, Frank “Pap” loved to spend time with his family, friends, enjoyed music, gardening, and fishing. Frank graduated from Edward H. White High School, and attended Florida A&M University, where he proudly served as a member of The Marching 100's Drum Major Core.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret, Barbara and brother, William. Frank is survived by his life partner Eartha Silva; nieces, Delores Horton (Phillip), Maria Williams, Kimberly Monroe (Terry), Kelley Taylor (Karl); nephew, Jason Hopkins; a host of special great nieces, great nephews and many other relatives and friends.
A public memorial service will be held September 23, 2023, at Lonnie Miller Park, - Pavilion 3 - Side A, Jacksonville, Florida at 1:00 pm. The family ask you wear orange and green to the memorial.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Frank's honor to the FAMU-Scholarship-Band, a cause that was close to his heart.
Rest in peace, dear uncle. You will be cherished and missed, but never forgotten.
