Thomas ~ Forestine Spikes Thomas was born April 14, 1942 into the union of the late Ebin and Jessie Mathis Spikes in Montgomery County, Georgia. Her early education began in the Montgomery County School System; she graduated from Montgomery County High School. Forestine earned her bachelor’s degree and worked in the Duval County School System as a dedicated first grade schoolteacher for thirty-eight years.
She was a true pioneer. Forestine was a dedicated hard worker. She was always helpful, kind and polite to others. Forestine was a loving and devoted mother, a one-of-a-kind sister and an unselfish and loyal friend.
She was preceded in death by sons, Charles Ebin Thomas and Tony Andrew Thomas; brothers, Ebin David Spikes, Jr. and Elder Charles Benjamin Spikes. Forestine leaves to cherish her loving memory son, Cleveland Thomas III; daughter, Loretta Thomas Maddox, both of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, Wilcher (Patricia) Spikes of Savannah, Georgia; sisters, Cindy Pickett, Betty Baker, Mary (Jerome) Powell, Margaret Shell and Elizabeth Haynes , all of Vidalia, Georgia; Etta Martin of Anniston, Alabama, and Classie (David) Clark of Snellville, Georgia; many extended family and friends, including special friend, Sherri Jones. Forestine treasured the special life-long friendship with Ms. Olivia Cross, Ms. Geneva Barrier, Ms. Olivia Gastons and others.
Celebration Service for Mrs. Forestine Spikes Thomas will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 30, 2021, at The Soutel Chapel. Visitation Thursday, 10:00 AM, one hour before the service.
