El Marva D. Marshall

Marshall ~ On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, El Marva Dyett Rountree Marshall passed away peacefully. She was born December 29, 1946, to David Calhoun Rountree and Eleanor Campbell Rountree. El Marva gave her life to Christ at a young age at Second Missionary Baptist Church. She was a beloved daughter, sister and friend whose kindness touched everyone she met.

From the moment she could speak, El Marva vowed to emulate her sister, Allie Faye, declaring at age six that she would one day sing just like her. Away from the spotlight, her creative spirit thrived through a love for painting and drawing. Her journey led her through the halls of New Stanton Senior High School, where she proudly earned her diploma in 1964. Following high school, El Marva furthered her education at Florida Memorial College of St. Augustine, Florida where she was named Miss Freshman.

El Marva was never one to stay in one place for long, she was proactive in her career, working in clerical and retail roles across both the Tampa and Tallahassee areas. Her journey eventually brought her back to Jacksonville, where she joined Joint Heirs Christian Center and then The Bethel Church under Bishop Rudolph McKissick, Jr.

Proceeding her in death are her parents, David & Eleanor Rountree; brothers, Algernon Rountree, David Rountree, Willie Hankins; and sister, Daladier Miller.  She is survived by her children, David Bonner, Jolita Stoney (Kory, Sr.), Janina Smokes (Albert), Paul Bonner (grandson); grandchildren, Terriance Woodard II, Viktorya Stoney, Krystal Lane, Kory Stoney, Jr., Bryce Smokes, Brooklyn Smokes; sisters and brothers, Allie Faye Rountree Polite (James Sr.), Patricia Rountree Cooper, Patricia Wilson, Andrea Hankins, James Hankins, Maurice Hankins, Margaret Fair; cousins, Consuelo Jackson, Evelyn Russell, Armond Jackson, Jr. (Doris); a host other relatives and friends.

Memorial service for Mrs. El Marva Dyett Rountree Marshall will be 11:00AM Thursday, November 6, 2025, at The Bethel Church.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Drive, 904-924-9400
