MADISON ~ Edward Dean Madison was born January 21, 1937 in Larned, Kansas to the late Clyde and Frances Scott Madison. He grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended the local schools and later graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1956.
Upon graduating high school, Edward worked as a janitor. From there he pursued a military career. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve four years. Then he spent time in the Air National Guard for a total of eight years. After that, he joined the Air Force where he began his truck driving career by delivering supplies to his fellow soldiers during the Vietnam War. Later he was assigned to Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. In 1974, he gave his life to Christ and soon afterwards, he met and married Carolyn Beatrice Allen in 1975.
After leaving the air force, Edward continued his career as a truck driver for many years. When he retired, he and his wife moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1998. They joined Bethel Baptist Institutional Church in 1999. On January 23, 2004, he joined The Bethel Staff as a full time Sexton. He retired from the church in 2007. Edward enjoyed reading, watching television and trucking.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Beatrice Madison; daughter, Karen Madison; siblings, Clytice Ann Madison and James Dallas Madison. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, children, Pamela Madison, Carla Madison, Dallas, Texas, Tyrina (L C) Smith, Jacksonville, Florida, Josanna Allen, Elk Grove, California, Bernard (Kim) Mincey, Des Moines, Iowa, B. Angela (Fred) Peterson, Des Moines, Iowa and Raynard (Theda) Porter, Suisun, California; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Celebration of Life Service for Edward Dean Madison will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Bethel Institutional Baptist Church, 215 Bethel Baptist Street, Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Jr., Senior Pastor, Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr., Pastor Emeritus. Family will receive friends Tuesday at The Soutel Chapel from 5 – 7 PM. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Because of the love of his family arrangements entrusted to J. E.
