Dorothy Mack Obituary

Mack ~ Dorothy “Dee-Dee” Vera-Mae Mack was born June 23rd, 1950, to the late Reverend Quillie and Mazel Spellman in Bamberg, South Carolina. She lived much of her life in Brooklyn, New York, where she brought three children into the world - Kevin Grant, Shameka Glover, and Andrew Glover. Later, Dorothy met and married Larry Mack, who preceded her, before moving to Jacksonville, Florida where she spent the remainder of her life. Dorothy’s greatest joy was her family; her vibrancy and warmth overtook every room she was in. Her life was a beautiful combination of life’s greatest gifts, the best things – a collector’s box of age-old recipes, gorgeous plants grown under her care, laughter, music – so much music. Dorothy lived her life regretless, leaving every memory as a dedication, and an everlasting impact on every person she has touched.

Dorothy went home to be with our Lord, her father mother, Reverend & Mrs. Spellman; son, Kevin Grant; husband; brothers, Quillie, James, Samuel, Paul, William, George (Joan) Spellman; sisters, Mather Lee Waiters-Sherman, Helen Burton, Helen Bing; and niece, Mary Spellman-Moore on Thursday, June 25th, 2026, after a long battle with lung cancer. She leaves to mourn her life two children, Shameka and Andrew Glover; granddaughters, Niveah Glover and Alicha Glover (Zatwon); great grandchildren; goddaughters, Toria King (Antron) and Tracy Barber (Mike); daughter-in-love, Lisa Smith; sisters, Verlean “Tracy” Spellman of Jacksonville, Florida, Denise Rogers, and Anna-Bell Dickerson of St. Mary’s Georgia; nephews, Shannon, Avery, Tyrice (Delta); a host of nieces to include Gloria (Joseph), Juanita; special niece, MiMi Clark (English); grand nieces, nephews, and friends.
