Branon ~ Dora Bell Grier Branon was born May 31, 1939, in Dawson Georgia to Raymond Grier Sr. and Abbie Conic Grier. She was the fifth child of six children. When Dora was five years old her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Dora later graduated from New Stanton High School in 1959, as a member of the FAMU 4H Club and National Honor Society.
Dora later married William Branon Jr. in 1961, in Georgia and moved to Newark, New Jersey where she worked various jobs ~ Yardly Perfume factory and retired from General Motors Corporation on April 1, 1991, with full benefits. While working, Dora was able to bless all her family with love and travel gifts. She was everyone's favorite aunt; she was loved like everyone’s mother. Dora was affectionately known as "Aunt-T".
On Sunday September 28, 2025, Heaven spoke, and Dora took her wings to go home to eternal rest in Heaven. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, William Branon Jr.; her mother and father, Abbie and Raymond Grier; brother, Raymond Grier Jr; sisters, Evelyn Simmons and Thelma Bright.
Dora is survived by sisters, Virginia Holcomb, Edna Grier-Myers; brother in love, Odell Bright; nieces and nephews, Linda Sumlar, Paulette Parker, Georgette Denson, Glenn Holcomb (Brenda), Deangelo Bright, Marsha Butler, Derald Grier Sr (Deborah), Tracey Grier, Raymond Grier, Bernard Bell (Dorothy), Lolita Purcell, Gwendolyn Flood, Jacquelyn Robinson; a host of other nieces and friends.
Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Dora Bell Grier Branon will be 2:00PM Friday, October 3, 2025, at The Soutel Chapel. Visitation Thursday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
