Jackson ~ Mr. Jim Jackson, Jr. was born October 6th, 1936, in Louisville, Georgia. He was the first born of nine children to Jim Jackson, Sr. & Sallie B. Gibbons-Jackson (both deceased). Jim attended the local schools in Louisville, Georgia and later moved to Jacksonville, Florida.
He was employed with the International Longshoreman Association Union #1408; retiring after many years of dedicated service. Jim met and married Lue Ella Morgan-Jackson. He accepted Christ and served faithfully as a deacon at Greater New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Levi White; later becoming the Chairman of the Deacon board where he served steadily until his mobility began to fail.
Jim was preceded in death by his siblings, Catherine (George Sr.) Brantley-Jackson, Louise Bradley-Jackson, Mattie Powell-Jackson, Roy, Willie, and Jodie (Margo) Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Lue Ella Morgan-Jackson; children, Isaiah, Robert, Andriene Jackson, Lonzay, Tony, and Mike Morgan, Donna, Willie “Billy” and Bernard Chambliss; a host of grandchildren/great grandchildren; sisters, Lue Ethel, Felmon Swindle-Jackson, Dinah M. Jackson; sister/brother-in-law, Betty Ruth Jackson, Charles Bradley; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends, including best friend, Pastor Levi White.
Celebration of Life service for Deacon Jim Jackson will be 11:00AM Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Greater New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, 195 Tallulah Road. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Interment in Restlawn Memorial Park. Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
