Butler ~ Davin William Butler was born May 19, 1967, to David James Butler and Lillian Kee Butler. He was an avaricious reader and learner. Davin loved reading, especially about football, as he loved that game more than just about anything. He could talk to just about anyone about players, teams and his own personal try outs with different organizations. “His” team, as it turned out, was the Oakland Raiders, going against the grain in his family of cousins and uncles who battled him with (shhh) the cowboys. They loved the competition and frequently harangued each other by phone during game time.
Davin or “Billy” as family called him, was educated in the schools of Duval County, completing his high school in the U.S. Army. He subsequently moved to Broward County and began working with the International Longshoreman Association 1416 until a disability impeded safety on the job. Davin was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, 210 NW 6th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Pastor W. J. Gaskins.
He was a jovial, friendly person, always willing to help anyone in need. Everyone who knew him said he could walk into a room and light it up. Davin was predeceased by his father, David Butler; brothers, James D. McDonald, Dayan W. Butler; grandparents, Walter Kee & Laura Kee-Phinx, William & Cornelia Butler; god family, The Bolers. Davin is survived by his mother, Lillian Kee Butler-Humphrey (Minister Terence); sister, Sharon Norris; step-siblings, Terence S. Humphrey, Tiffany and Tiera Humphrey; uncles, Walter Kee III, Michael Kee, Donald C. Kee, Victor Kee (Jonica), Johnathan Kee (Nanette); aunts, Joyce Moore, LaMira Q.
