Clarence Albert Upson, Sr

UPSON ~ Clarence Albert Upson, Sr. was born April 24, 1936 to Ada Adams Upson and Willie Upson, Sr. in Jacksonville, Florida.  At an early age, he began work at Winn Dixie Warehouse along with his brothers, Bobby and Bubba; he retired after many years of dedicated service.

Clarence was an expert mechanic who could build an engine and repair anything associated with an automobile.  For many years, he worked at Acme Auto Parts where he was highly regarded.  He was a dedicated member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church for many years.  Clarence was a strong, independent man who believed in hard work, integrity, honesty; and a man who stood firmly by his decisions.

He made the decision to transition from his earthly home and he did it his way.  Clarence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his firstborn grandson, Brandon Upson.  Clarence leaves to cherish his memory a loving family, children, Ledia Upson-Moore, Sharon Sumlar, Clarence Upson, Jr., June Upson and Kelvin(Martisha) Upson; grandchildren, Jasmine (Tavares)Toomer, Jessica Upson, Le’Quan Thornton,  Kelvin Garvin II, Bria (Siddiq) Garvin-Haynes, Jamere Thomas and Kameron Taylor; six great grandchildren; brother, Joseph Upson, Sr.; sisters, Thelma Jenkins, Sophie Hamm and Rose Williams; sisters-in-law, Shirley Sullivan, Willie Belle Upson; nephew whom he loved as a son, Robert L. Upson, Sr.; other nephews and nieces; beloved dogs, Coco and Nemo; devoted friends, Tony Shumake and Bertha Richardson.

Graveside Service for Clarence Upson, Sr will be 2:00 PM, Saturday December 19, 2020 will be at Edgewood Cemetery, 4519 Edgewood Drive., Rev. K. E.
