Howard ~ On March 15, 1949, Charles Bernard “Butch” Howard was born to Samuel Howard and Marie Fletcher Williams in Ormond Beach, Florida. Butch grew up between areas of Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, Florida. He was a thirty-year retired army veteran who served in Vietnam. Butch was Sergeant First Class (E-7) over the 82nd Airborne and was a decorated paratrooper. He also joined the Imperial Council in 1981, Kindah Temple number 62, and made 33rd degree mason in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Butch was preceded in death by son, Torrance Howard; brothers, Ronald Howard & Leroy Rodgers. He leaves to cherish his memory, children, Katrina Howard-Wright (Gary) of Orlando, Florida, Ivy Howard of San Antonio, Texas, Sean Howard of Texas, Shantae Johnson (Craig) of Miami, Florida; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Bennett of Virginia, Gail Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Barbara Rodgers of Daytona Beach, Florida; loving significant other, Loretta Howard-Glover; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Celebration of Life service for Charles Bernard Howard will be 12:00PM Friday, October 8, 2021 at The Soutel Chapel. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
